Experience of urethral dilation therapy with renal fascia dilator for the treatment of 31 male urethral stricture patients

Abstract：Objective:To study the efficacy of renal fascia dilator in the treatment of male urethral stricture patients.Methods:All patients underwent dilation of urethra with renal fascia dilator. Under the ureteroscope, a guidewire was inserted through the stenosed urethra into the bladder, and it was confirmed by X-ray. The urethral stenosis was dilated with renal fascia dilator by X-ray guided. All patients were located catheters across the strictures and got regular dilation in out-patient department with follow up.Results:The operations of 28 patients were successful. Three cases were not success by single fascial dilation because of the length of urethral stricture ＞ 1 cm. The 3 cases were treated by internal urethrotomy with holmium laser and fascial dilation. The operation was successfully performed in all 31 cases, with no urethral false passage,urethral perforation or urethra tearing. All cases were followed up from 4 to 32 months,and no dysuria happened in the 29 cases. Two cases received the second operation for stenosis recurrence because of irregular dilation.Conclusions:Dilation of the urethrostenosis with single renal fascia dilator is a safe and efficient method for the length of urethral stricture ＜ 1 cm.
