Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of End fire greenlight high performance system (HPS) laser in the treatment of urethral stricture. Methods: Twenty-five cases underwent endoscopic urethrotomy and scar vaporization by End fire greenlight laser HPS. The clinical data of all the 25 patients were collected and analyzed, including operational time, operative bleeding volume, time of indwelling catheter after operation, complications after operation, urine flow rate (Qmax) and residual urine(RUV). Results: All operations were performed successfully. The average time of operation and operative bleeding volume was (21.44±6.07) min and (5-10) mL, respectively. Qmax was greatly improved from (5.82±2.45) mL/s to (16.84±4.23) mL/s after catheter removal, and RUV was greatly reduced from (350.54±42.76) mL to (24.54±8.72) mL/s (P<0.01). Conclusions: End fire greenlight laser HPS is a good choice in the treatment of urethral stricture because of the minimal invasion, little bleeding and complications, quick recovery and low recurrence.
