Abstract:Objective:To investigate the key points and clinical efficacy of transurethral treatment for male's long-segment urethral stricture. Methods:The clinical data, therapeutic methods and long-term follow-up results of 12 male patients who suffered long-segment urethral stricture were retrospectively analyzed. Results:Transurethral internal urethrotomy were successfully performed on all 12 patients who had 3-9 cm urethral stricture segment, including 7 cases given holium laser and 5 cases given 2 μm laser, and urethral dilatation was done regularly for each patient after operation. The follow-up duration was 6-72 month. All 12 patients finished six-month regular urethral dilation after operation, and had an easy and smooth urination. Six months after operation, urethrography indicated the stricture segments of urethral were smooth and glossy, and uroflometry found the Qmax was 11-23 mL/s, and the Qmax was 2-8 mL/s before operation with the difference being statistically significant (P<0.01). Among the 9 cases whose follow-up durations were exceeded 2 years, 7 patients insisted on regular urethral dilation for 2 years and had a full recovery with easy and smooth urination all the time, and 2 cases who didn't insist on the urethral dilation had gradual dysuria: one fully recovered after restarting the urethral dilation in time, and one received transurethral internal urethrotomy again. Conclusions:Transurethral internal urethrotomy followed by regular urethral dilation after operation is an effective treatment for male patients with long-segment urethral stricture.
