Abstract:Objective: To analyze the characteristics of 127 cases of ureteral stones during the epidemic and non-epidemic period in Huishan District People’s Hospital. Methods: The clinical data of 127 patients with complicated ureteral calculi in the urology clinic or the emergency department from February to July 2019 and February to July 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were divided into control group (84 cases) and study group (43 cases) according to the epidemic period. The ureteral calculi characteristics, laboratory indicators, application of antibiotics, intervention measures and length of hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results: There was no significant difference in the average age and stone characteristics between the two groups. The serum creatinine level and white blood cell count in the study group on admission were significantly higher than those in the control group. As compared with the control group, the study group has a higher emergency priority ratio, more surgical interventions, a stronger use of carbapenem antibiotics, and a longer hospital stay. Conclusion: The prevalence of complicated ureteral stones during the new coronavirus pneumonia period is significantly higher, and urologists should give priority to patients who need urgent treatment.
