Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of transurethral 2-micron thulium laser treatment of bladder neck scar stenosis after prostatectomy. Methods:The clinical data and follow-up results of 36 cases with bladder neck scar stenosis after prostatectomy treated between Jan 2006 and Jan 2012 were reviewed. Results:Among these patients, 16 cases had been treated by TURP, 20 cases by suprapubic prostatectomy. They were treated by transurethral 2-micron thulium laser to eliminate all scar tissue. The follow-up time was 6-24 months. One patient had stricture at outer orifice of urethra. Urine flow rate of 1 month after the treatment was 12.3-28.9 ml/s with a mean of (21.5±4.1)ml/s.Conclusions:Transurethral 2-micron thulium laser is an effective method to treat bladder neck scar stenosis after prostatectomy.
