Abstract:Objective: To study the short-term clinical efficacy and safety of 1 470 nm-laser enucleation of the prostate for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods: The clinical data of 28 cases undergoing enucleation of prostate with domestic 1 470 nm-laser from December 2015 to March 2016 were briefly summarized. Results: The 1 470 nm-laser enucleation of the prostate was successfully performed on 28 cases, with less blood loss and no blood transfusion. The average operation time was (94.0±19.7) min. There was no significant difference in instant concentrations before and after operation (P>0.05). The postoperative bladder washing time was (1.6±0.5) days, indwelling catheter time was (4.1±1.0) days, and the length of hospital stay was (6.0±1.5) days. After a 3-month follow-up, International Prostatic Symptom score (IPSS), quality of life (QOL) score, maximum flow rates (Qmax), and postvoid residual volume (PVR) were significantly improved, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Transient urinary incontinence recovered within one month after pelvic muscle exercises in 4 cases. There were no patients with urethral stricture or the need for a further surgery. Conclusions: Treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia with 1 470 nm-laser enucleation of the prostate is a safe and effective surgical method, with few complications and speedy recovery.
