Abstract：Objective: To summarize the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of paraganglioma and to improve clinical recognition, diagnostic and therapeutic level of paraganglioma. Methods: The clinical data of 11 patients with paraganglioma in 309 Hospital of PLA in recent five years, included preoperative examination, diagnosis, preoperative preparation and intraoperative accidents were retrospectively analyzed, and the related literature was reviewed to summarize the key points of diagnosis and treatment. Results: Nine patients were treated surgically. Two cases were successfully treated with retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery with adequate preparation preoperation. Seven patients had no adequate preparation preoperation in accordance with paraganglioma. Surgical events consisted of conversion from local anesthesia to general anesthesia, conversion to open surgery, massive blood loss, blood transfusion and termination of surgery due to severe fluctuation of blood pressure during the perioperative period. Conclusions: Adequate preparation, close anesthesia monitoring and precise operation during the perioperative period are the key to the treatment of paraganglioma. The skills of vascular surgery for intraoperative vascular injury is critical.
