Abstract:Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided obturator nerve block in the transurethral resection of bladder cancer. Methods:Nine patients with bladder cancer involving the bladder sidewall underwent ultrasound-guided obturator nerve block followed by transurethral resection of the tumors. Results:Obturator nerve block was successfully completed in eight patients under ultrasound guidance, with a block rate of 89%. Transurethral resection of these patients' bladder tumors was also successful. No complication were observed. Conclusions:The obturator nerve can be successfully blocked under ultrasound guidance. Ultrasound-guided obturator nerve block can safely and effectively prevent the obturator nerve reflex during the transurethral resection of bladder cancer.
