Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of 1 470 nm modified diode laser vaporization of the prostate (DiLEP) for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) complicated with mild urethral stricture. Methods: The clinical data of 39 cases of BPH complicated with mild urethral stricture undergoing 1 470 nm modified DiLEP were retrospectively reviewed from January 2016 to December 2017. Electrolyte and hemoglobin were compared before and after surgery. Besides, the changes of urodynamic indexes were observed during 1st to 3rd month postoperation. Results: The 1 470 nm modified DiLEP was performed successfully on all cases. The mean operation time, bladder continuous irrigation time, retaining catheterization time and retaining bladder fistula time was (62.0±25.6) min, (12.7±5.8) h, (2.8±0.6) days and (2.1±0.7) days respectively. There were no significant differences in mean serum K+, serum Na+ and hemoglobin before and 4 h after operation. As compared with preoperative data, PVR, IPSS and QOL were significantly decreased, and Qmax significantly increased 1-3 months after operation (all P<0.05). Conclusion: The 1 470 nm modified DiLEP in the treatment of BPH complicated with mild urethral stricture can improve urinary symptoms. It is worth to popularize in clinical practice.
