Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of retroperitoneal laparoscopic pyeloplasty for the treatment of uretero-pelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). Methods: The clinical data of 10 patients with UPJO who underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic Anderson -Hynes dismembered pyeloplasty were retrospectively reviewed. There were 8 males and 2 females with age ranging from 13 to 34 years. The lesions were located on the left side in 7 cases, and on the right side in 3 cases. All patients had some extent backache or low back pain. The history ranged from 1 week to 5 years. Results: Retroperitoneal pyeloplasty was performed successfully on all 10 cases with no conversion to open surgery. The mean operative time was 120 min (90 to 240 min), and the blood loss was 35 to 80 mL. Urine leakage occurred postoperatively in 2 cases, and cured 2-3 days later. Drainage tube was removed in 4-7 days, and incisions healed well. D-J tube was pulled out 4-6 weeks later, and no leakage and anastomotic stenosis occurred. During the follow-up period of 3 to 30 months, B ultrasound and IVU showed the hydronephrosis relieved, and renal function was improved. Conclusions: Retroperitoneal laparoscopic dismembered Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty for the treatment of UPJO is safe and efficient with advantages of less complications. Further research with larger samples and a longer follow-up period is required.
