Countermeasures and reasons of catheter slippage after laparoscopic radical prostatectomy

Abstract：Objective: To investigate the countermeasures and reasons of catheter slippage after laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP).Methods: The clinical data of 5 cases of catheter slippage after LRP during February 2016 to June 2016 in Chinese PLA General Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The postoperative recovery of the patients after catheter replacement was observed.Results: One case was successfully treated by replacing urinary catheter. One case was treated by ureteroscope successfully. The catheter was replaced in 3 cases under electron flexible cystoscope. Conclusions: The variety of measures can reduce the risk of catheter slippage, including the detailed examination of urinary catheter before operation, subtle manipulation, and the urinary catheter nursing carefully after operation. The replacement of the catheter under electron flexible cystoscope is safe, effective, and worthy of clinical promotion.
