Abstract:Objective: To investigate the application of C-arm X-ray in calculus positioning when flexible ureteroscope is applied for lithotripsy of renal calculus and in the evaluation of the lithotripsy outcome. Methods: A total of 24 patients undergoing the flexible ureteroscope for lithotripsy of renal calculus in our hospital from Mar. 2014 to Jan. 2015 were selected and divided randomly into two groups: the observation group and the control group. C-arm X-ray was applied in the observation group during surgery to assist calculus positioning and evaluate the lithotripsy outcome. C-arm X-ray was not applied in the control group. The time of calculus positioning and the calculus removal outcome after lithotripsy were observed. Results: (1) There was no significant difference in calculus positioning time between the observation group and the control group (P>0.05). (2) In terms of calculus removal outcome, the observation group was significantly superior to the control group (P>0.05). Conclusions: C-arm X-ray does not possess obvious advantages in calculus positioning. But the success rate of calculus removal is increased substantially after the evaluation on the lithotripsy outcome with C-arm X-ray.
