Abstract：Objective: To study the surgical treatments for Xp11.2 translocation/TFE3 fusion gene related renal cancer and effectiveness. Methods: From November 2008 to August 2014, 8 cases of Xp11.2 translocation renal cell cancer (RCC) were treated in PLA General Hospital. Clinical manifestations, characteristics of RCC and surgical treatments were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Most of the patients were under 30 years old. All of RCC were unilateral. The cancer cells were of mixed cell types, and the papillary cells occupied the most. The grade and stage of these RCC were low. We chose nephron sparing surgery or radical nephrectomy based on the tumor size and the location, and the retroperitoneal approach was adopted most. The mean operation time was (131±25) min, mean blood loss was (72±5) mL and mean hospital stay was (8±4) days. Conclusions: Xp11.2 translocation/TFE3 fusion gene related renal cancer is a rare disease caused by chromosomal translocation with high malignancy. Surgical resection is the primary option.
