Abstract:Objective:To investigate the clinical application of retroperitoneal laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy in relatives kidney transplantation, and to analyze its efficacy and security. Methods:A retrospective analysis was reported by 27 cases receiving laparoscopic living relative donor nephrectomy in our department from April 2009 to February 2013. Donors included 8 males and 19 females, and mean age was 45 years. Donor kidneys were removed from left kidney. The recipients included 22 males and 5 females with average age of 38 years old. Results:All 27 cases successfully underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, without intraoperative blood transfusion and significant complications. Postoperative hospital stay was 7.8 days (6-18days). Renal function of recipients returned to normal level for 7.4 days (3-15 days). No delayed graft function and acute rejection occurred. Conclusions:Retroperitoneal laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy had many advantages, including safety and reliablility, less bleeding, minimal injury, and more rapid recovery. This procedure is the preferred method to obtain living donor kidney.
