Efficacy of percutaneous nephrolithotomy ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy vs. pneumatic lithotripsy in the treatment of complex renal calculi

Abstract:Objective: To compare the efficacy of percutaneous nephrolithotomy holmium laser lithotripsy (PNHLL) with pneumatic lithotripsy (PL) in the treatment of complex renal calculi. Methods: From January 2017 to September 2018, 160 cases of complicated renal calculi in our hospital were divided into PNHLL group and PL group according to the random number table method, 80 cases in each group. The PNHLL group was treated by PNHLL, and PL group was treated by PL. Results: There was no significant difference between the two group in terms of operation, lithotripsy, length of stay, intraoperative bleeding volume and complication rate (P > 0.05). The success rate of primary lithotripsy and stone removal rate in the PNHLL group were significantly lower than those in the PL group, and the rate of re-treatment in PNHLL group was significantly higher than that in PL group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Both PL and PNHLL can treat complex kidney stones, but PL has a better effect of lithotripsy with good safety, which can effectively improve the removal effect of patients with stones and improve the prognosis of patients, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
