Abstract：Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of flexible ureteroscopy with holmium laser in the treatment of duplex kidney and ureter deformity with upper urinary tract calculi. Methods: The clinical data of 17 cases of duplex kidney and ureter deformity and upper urinary tract calculi who were treated with flexible ureteroscopy with holmium laser were retrospectively analysed. Three of the patients were male and 14 were female, and the average age was 32.6 years (ranging from 15 to 58 years). There were 2 cases of upper renal calculi, 5 cases of inferior renal calculi, 7 cases of upper ureteral calculi and 3 cases of upper ureteral calculi and inferior renal calculi. There were 15 cases of incompletely duplex kidney and ureter combined with calculi, and 2 cases of completely duplex kidney and ureter combined with calculi. The mean diameter of calculus was 16.7 mm (ranging from 12 to 25 mm). Results: Sixteen patients underwent flexible ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy successfully, and 1 case was converted to percutaneous nephrolithotomy because the flexible ureteroscope could not be diverted into inferior kidney with calculi. No severe complications such as injury of ureter, bleeding, and sepsis occurred. During the follow-up period of 2 to 18 months, there was no recurrence of calculi, and all hydronephrosis was improved to varying degrees. Conclusions: Flexible ureteroscopy with holmium laser is safe and effective in the management of duplex kidney and ureter deformity with upper urinary tract calculi.
