Abstract:Objective: To explore the relationship between the indwelling time of double-J stent and the incidence of related complications, and the related prevention and treatment measures of various complications. Methods: 102 patients were divided into two groups according to the indwelling time of double-J stent: one-month group, and three-month group. A retrospective analysis was performed about the relationship between the indwelling time and the incidence of various complications. Results: The incidence of complicationsfin one-month group and three-month group was: urinary tract infection 73.7% vs. 80.0%; bladder irritative symptoms 43.9% vs. 68.9%; hematuria 10.5% vs. 23.6%; lumbago 26.3% vs. 60.0%; foreign body sensation 24.6% vs. 44.4%; stones attached to the double-J stent 24.6% vs. 64.4%; double-J stent shift 0.0% vs. 4.4%, respectively. All patients had no extubation difficulties. The incidence of urinary tract infection showed no statistically significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). There was significant difference in the incidence of bladder irritative symptoms, hematuria, lumbago and foreign body sensation between two groups (P<0.05). In addition, the difference in the incidence of stones attached to the double-J stent was statistically significant (P<0.01). Due to insufficient sample size, the data of double-J stent shift and extubation difficulties cannot be effectively compared between two groups. Conclusions: The length of the indwelling time of double-J stent decides the size of the incidence of most complications to some extent.
