Efficacy of robot-assisted laparoscopy in the treatment of secondary ureteral stricture after endoscopy (report for 27 cases)

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of robot-assisted laparoscopy in the treatment of secondary ureteral stricture after endoscopy. Methods: The clinical data of 27 patients admitted to our hospital from June 2018 to September 2020 with secondary ureteral strictures, who received ureteroscopic lithotripsyvia the transperitoneal approach, were analyzed. A total of 25 patients underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic resection of the stricture segment and ureteral re-anastomosis,and 2 patients with ureteral stricture segments ≤2 cm from the bladder wall underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic resection of the stricture segment and ureteral reimplantation. Results: All 27 operations were successful without intra-operative and post-operative complications, and major organs and large blood vessels were well-protected. The mean operation time was (98.18±25.69) min, and the mean length of post-stay was(5.22±0.90) days. During the follow-up period of 6 to 33 months, the CT and IVU reexamination revealed that all patients were cured with significantly reduced hydronephrosis and improved renal function, and no restenosis occurred. Conclusion: Robot-assisted laparoscopy in the treatment of secondary ureteral stricture after endoscopic surgeryis safe and effective, with fewer complications and quick recovery.
