Abstract:objective: To summarize the experience in diagnosis and treatment of 11 cases of renal oncocytoma. Methods: The clinical data of 11 cases of renal oncocytoma confirmed surgically and pathologically were analyzed retrospectively. The literatures about this disease were reviewed. Results: Two patients were treated with radical nephrectomy. Partial nephrectomy was performed on the rest 9 cases. Pathologically, the diagnosis of renal oncocytoma was made after surgery. After a median follow-up period of 26 months (7 to 60 months), there was no recurrence or metastasis from oncocytoma. Conclusion: Renal oncocytoma is a rare benign tumor, and difficult to differentiate from renal cancer with asymptomatic symptom and image examination. The diagnosis can be established on radiological imaging techniques, renal mass biopsy and immunohistochemistry.
