Abstract:Objective:To investigate the efficacy of semidisposable flexible ureterorenoscope with holmium laser in the management of solitary kidney stone. Methods:From October 2011 to May 2013, 16 patients with solitary kidney stones were treated with polyscope with holmium laser. Operation time, stone free rate, mobidity, as well as stone compositions were analyzed. Results:Successful insertion of ureteric access sheath was performed in 13 cases (81.3%), and the polyscopes were successfully accessibility rate of these stones was 93.8% (15/16), the mean operative time was (85±37)mins, and with an average of 1.3 procedures per patient. Stone free rate (SFR) were 62.5%(10/16)for single procedure and 81.3%(13/16)for second procedure. No major complications were developed. Calcium oxalate monohydrate and calcium oxalate monohydrate/calcium oxalate dihydrate were the most frequently encountered stone compositions in all cases. Conclusions:The semidisposable flexible ureterorenoscope with holmium laser is an effective, reproducible, and minimally traumatic therapeutic technique adapted to diseases of solitary kidney stones.
