Implication of preoperative indwelling of ureteral stents in flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy: a report of 30 cases

Abstract：Objective: To analyze retrospectively the effects of preoperative indwelling of ureteral stents on the flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy. Methods: During 2014 to 2015, a total of 30 patients with nephrolith, who were given flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy, were selected. The average operation time, average postoperative hospital stay and the incidence of residual stones were statistically analyzed. Results: The average operation time and hospital stay were significantly shortened, and the incidence of residual stones was obviously reduced in the preoperative ureteral stent indwelling group as compared with control group. Conclusions: The preoperative indwelling of ureteral stents can effectively increase the success rate of flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy.
