Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical experience and therapeutic effect of retroperitoneal laparoscopic partial nephrectomy in the treatment of T1 renal cell carcinoma. Methods: The clinical data of 31 patients (19 males and 12 females) with T1 renal cell carcinoma who were treated from Jan. to Dec. 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients had a mean age of (52.0±12.8) years old and a mean tumor size of (2.7±1.4) cm in diameter, with 13 cases on the left side and 18 cases on the right side. All patients underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Results: All operations were completed successfully without conversion to open surgery, and there were no intraoperative and postoperative complications. The mean operation time was (103.6±27.3) min, the mean warm ischemia time was (23.0±8.1) min, the mean blood loss was (40.0±22.6) mL and the mean postoperative hospital stay was (5.0±0.6) days. Pathologically, all renal tumors were completely removed with negative surgical margins. All patients had normal renal function and had no local recurrence or distant metastasis during a mean follow-up of (6.3±4.2) months. Conclusions: Retroperitoneal laparoscopic partial nephrectomy is safe and feasible for the treatment of T1 renal cell carcinoma, with less trauma and quicker recovery. Meanwhile, renal function can be maximally reserved.
