Abstract:Objective: To explore the urinary continence following laparoscopic radical resection of prostate cancer and its influencing factors. Methods: The clinical data of 126 patients with prostate cancer treated with laparoscopic radical resection were retrospectively analyzed. The recovery of urinary continence was observed. The related factors affecting the recovery of postoperative urinary continence were explored. Results: Among the 126 patients with prostate cancer, urine continence of 11 cases (8.73%) recovered after removal of urinary tube, 68 (53.97%) at 3rd month, 104 (82.54%) at 6th month and 121 (96.03%) at 1st year. Age, prostate volume, preoperative IPSS score, retention of the prostate urethra, retention of the bladder neck, retention of the vascular and nerve bundles showed statistically significant differences in patients with different urinary control conditions after removal of the urinary tube and at 3rd and 6th months after surgery (P < 0.05). Age, preoperative IPSS score, retention of the prostate urethra, retention of bladder neck, and retention of vascular and nerve tract were important factors affecting the recovery of urinary continence in patients with prostate cancer after operation (P < 0.05). Prostate volume was also a key factor affecting urinary control after removal (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Age, preoperative IPSS score, prostate volume and retention of the prostate urethra, bladder neck, and vascular and nerve bundle during operation all influence the postoperative urinary control in patients with prostate cancer.
