The prevention and treatment of complications after prostatectomy in aged patients

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the types and prevention of postoperative complications in elderly patients subject to prostatectomy. Methods:The clinical data of 40 elderly patients undergoing prostatectomy were retrospectively analyzed. The types of postoperative complications including hematuria, overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, bladder neck stricture, urinary tract infection, epididymitis, dysuria, frequent micturition, retrograde ejaculation, lower limb venous thrombosis, lung infection, water electrolyte disorder, and cardiac function were analyzed. The effects of preoperative preparation, preoperative risk assessment, intraoperative hemostasis, postoperative close observation, and rational drug use on complications were evaluated. Results:All patients safely underwent the perioperative period. Conclusions:Complications after prostatectomy in elder patients can be prevented and treated.
