Abstract：Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Ntrap stone extraction combined with ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy for the treatment of upper ureteral stones.Methods:Seventy-six patients of upper ureteral stones underwent ureteroscopic lithotripsy using holmium laser with Ntrap stone extraction by a rigid ureteroscopy in our hospital between June 2009 and October 2011.The success rate of lithotripsy,operation time,rate of ureteral perforation,clearance of calculus were retrospectively analyzed.Results:The procedure was completed successfully in all the cases,and in 92.1% ( 70 /76) of them,the stones were fragmented in one session. In 6 cases,the stones were pushed upward and thus the patients received extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy ( ESWL) afterwards. None of the 76 patients had ureter perforation. The mean operation time was ( 50±12) min. No lithiasis fragments were observed by the post operation examination of KUB and ultrasonography.Conclusions:Ntrap stone extraction can effectively prevent ureteral stones from moving upward during ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy. Combined with holmium laser lithotripsy,it is effective, safe and minimally invasive for upper ureteral stones.
