Abstract:To compare the efficiency and safety of two procedures, transurethral 2 μm laser vaporesection and transurethral resection, for the treatment of bladder leukoplakia, and investigate the selection of medical management for bladder leukoplakia. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of 32 cases of bladder leukoplakia treated with transurethral 2 μm laser vaporesection (observation group) and 30 cases treated with transurethral resection (control group) from October 2011 to June 2014. Results: Two groups of patients were successfully operated. The operation time of two groups was not statistically significant. The length of hospital stay, indwelling catheter time and washing time in the observation group were significantly shorter s than the control group (P<0.05 for all). The efficiency in the observasion group was 87.5%, and that in the control group was 72.4%. The relapse rate and complications rate in the observasion group were significantly lower than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Transurethral 2 μm laser vaporesection for bladder leukoplakia is more effective intervention with higher curative rate and lower recurrence rate, complications rate than transurethral resection.
