Abstract：Objective:To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of retrograde balloon catheter dilation on calculi induced ureteral stenosis.Methods:Eighteen patients with calculi induced ureteral stenosis were underwent retrograde balloon catheter dilation between January 2008 and October 2010, Double J tube was retained after operation for 1-3 monthes followed by ultrasound examination 1 、3、6、12 months after extubation.Results:All the patients were followed-up in 3-24 months, Ureteral stenosis was successfully treated by balloon catheter dilation in 16 patients,2 patients had recurrent stenosis after double-J stent removal.1 patient got better after a second balloon catheter dilation,while the other got better via incision by Ho∶YAG laser.Conclusions:Retrograde balloon catheter dilation is a safe and effective procedure which can serve as first line treatment for ureteral stenosis.
