Applied value of ultrasonic elastography digital signal processing in the observation of the condition of varicocele

Abstract:Objective: To analyze the value of elastography in the observation of varicocele (VC). Methods: According to the relevant standards of this study, a total of 98 infertile men with varicocele treated in out hospital between January 2014 and December 2017 were included in the study. A total of 30 men undergoing healthy examinations in our hospital during the same periods were selected as the control group. Routine examinations (palpation, two-dimensional ultrasound, color Doppler flow phenomenon, Valsalva test, etc.) were performed, and ultrasound elastography was done to record the mean strain and the percentage of the blue area. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the relationship between the mean strain and the percentage of the blue area, and the characteristics of testicular elasticity imaging in normal and VC groups. Results: (1) The sperm density and (A + B) sperm motility in the VCⅢ group were the lowest (P <0.05). ② The mean strain was significantly lower, and the percentage of the blue area in the VCⅢ group those in the rest VC groups (all P <0.05); (3) The mean strain was negatively correlated with the percentage of the blue area (r = -0.751, P = 0.032 1). (4) The parenchyma central part of the normal testes was light green, the real edge was blue, and there was red peripheral zone surrounding the parenchyma. The testicular center of VC group was generally green, the parenchymal edge was blue, and there was red peripheral zone surrounding the parenchyma. Conclusion: Ultrasound elastography can display the histological changes of the testes, which can provide the guidance for the comprehensive evaluation and treatment for VC.
