Abstract：Objective: To introduce the treatment of long segment ureteral avulsion with psoas hitch and boari flap. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 2 consecutive patients with long segment ureteral avulsion from May 2009 to June 2017. One of them was given ureteral reanastomosis and omentum encapsulation, and another one accepted psoas hitch and boari flap. Results: One patient given ureteral reanastomosis and omentum encapsulation in May 2009 had leakage of urine repeatedly, infection and renal dysfunction, and nephrectomy was performed after 3 months. Another one receiving psoas hitch and boari flap in June 2017 recovered well, no complications such as leakage of urine and infection occurred, and double J tubes were pulled out 3 months later. Intravenous pyelography, renal function and color Doppler ultrasound of urinary system from 3-12 months suggested that the affected kidney developed well, hydronephrosis was relieved, and there were no complications such as anastomotic stenosis and renal atrophy. Conclusions: Psoas hitch with boari flap is a safe and effective surgical method to treat long segment ureteral avulsion.
